The initial creative spark that eventually became "A Tease Done Bluegrass" manifested for Dan when in 2002 he was researching the lyrics to "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun". "I saw it was written by Robert Hazard, and I went to see what his version sounded like and couldn't find it online at the time. I thought with a name like his he must have been a cowboy in a bluegrass band. It sparked my imagination to think of what his version sounded like. I began to think of other songs I loved from the 1980's that way and eventually would include a lot of these interpretations in my shows as encores."
