Johnny Cash 02:18
Johnny Cash He was the man in black and he changed the way the song of the country was sang and played and everywhere I go now on my birthday there's another wet eye or a tear on the way it don't feel right to see everyone torn but Johnny Cash died on the day that I was born. I go to the bar to have a little fun and it's great to hear Folsom being so well sung my birthday song is "I Still Miss Someone" because when I try to be happy I make everybody run. My welcome there has been well worn 'cause Johnny Cash died on the day that I was born. Nobody wants to party on the day that JC died Nobody from Mel to Marty cares to see me satisfied. I try to blow my candle and say my thing and there ain't no cake and I broke my strings playing Cash songs for the good it could bring to the rockabilly heroes and the bachelors of swing I'm waiting for the day to pass when they mourn but Johnny Cash died on the day I was born.

Old Roots 03:35
Old Roots There's a darkness in the sky when the docks no longer show and there ain't no tears that will ever be seen where the riverman does come and go and I see goodbyes now everywhere in the sadness in the wind Watching the life rolling on and seeing the roots start digging in (chorus) Old roots dig deeper when you can't move on and the rain sends the roots growing down so deep seems there's a sun shining on the tree of life and the miner of the roots never sleeps can't you find another path when the old goodbyes have come and gone? There ain't no way I'm looking back unless there's new ground that I'm standing on. I'm showing no fear to the outside as I watch things falling down the sky, the rain, your love, your life I see the twists of fate coming around I don't wait for wintertime to wear my coat up to my chin I see no need being lonesome in this old box that I'm stranded in. (chorus)
3.
Love Has So Many Faces/(You Don't See It) If I could get my hands on you sweet heaven would sing me a song I keep sleeping home alone and my luck keeps dragging on well your eyes keep me up all night they're stranded on my mind I want to get to know you one kiss at a time (chorus) but you don't see you don't see it you don't know you don't feel it you don't come - you don't suffer you don't fall like the rain Love has so many faces and I wonder what my place is. Before you get to love me a few hearts have got to break. There's distant tympani thunder everytime my words get confused now there goes my heart again it beats so hard I feel abused your body like a religion is ringing through my mind I keep thinking what won't happen and I complain all the time (chorus) so let's set the world on fire because the passion there ain't wrong you drive me out of bed, girl, I can't sleep at home alone I can't wait forever - I can't break my heart like that So why not call me in off your worn out welcome mat? (chorus)
4.
My Bride and I Echo of blue water I’ll never leave your side Your ocean sky my blanket your starlight as my guide Drift along this weightless whale so festooned in the sea And my bride and I, my ship, my sail, my dream dreaming of thee For many nights and moonlights I’ve waited on ‘ere shore For the sea to come to rescue me from loneliness and war The broken hearts cast aside as ships were floating free And My bride and I, my ship, my sail, my dream dreaming of thee. Without an answer to my shadow I foretold the tombs The hollow ghost broke open, the rising of typhoons Whispers turned to storms anchors held onto debris And my bride and I, my ship, my sail, the dream was lost on me I died inside her breasts I kissed the last of air farewell The morning sun was rising as she floated through the dell, My love was sinking low but I thanked the Lord for thee My bride and I, My ship, my sail, my dream dreaming of thee.

Who Will Take My Place? If they shoot me down to shut me down Who will take my place? If they bring an army into this town Who will take my place? if they rule this land and silence me when I'm laid out with injury When my words won't matter anymore Who will take my place? Rebellion you are not my own Who will take my place? There are flowers painted on these stones Who will take my place? When the silence of oppression dies overheard beyond the battle cries will be the words of final compromise Who will take my place? When the dogs of war are on the land Who will take my place? When you forfeit life to take a stand Who will take my place? When the dreamers fear the simplest thoughts When the bloodshed takes all that you've got When this world is just an empty, creaking floor Who will take my place?

Stop 01:48
Stop You ain't got nothing left but your anger and your debt There ain't nothing left in your life to live for You ran out of money You ran out of fun You ran out of friends who ran you out of town There ain't nothing left in your life to live for This here ain't no place to die spend a couple years and hang around When everything is back to dust you'll laugh at all the times you felt so down You're feeling mighty torn There's something in your eye You're too young to be born and much too old to die There ain't nothing in your life to live for.
7.
Have No Chains On Me Sing a morning song when the sun is high when I know it's over and I'm running out of time All I ask of today is to have no chains on me Sha na na na na na chains on me Cold steel shadows make me creep and scare I'm gonna spend my life with you believe me if you dare All I ask of today is to have no chains on me Sha na na na na na chains on me I’m pretty good I guess I deserve the chance to romance any circumstances and If I should because I’m nobody’s bad news I’m just a fool who sits and dances You've caught me on the run caught me in the cold living my lies again and never coming home All I ask of today is to have no chains on me Sha na na na na na chains on me
8.
The Freedom Of Choice I'm blown decayed inside let my heart feel the ride I just died can I hide? I'm grown but my bones feel small within us all I know we're tall (Chorus) Give me the freedom of choice I can use my own voice Got a head and a shoulder to lean it on And if the maid asks me I'll say I'm trying for peace she can clean up the blood on the floor I'm hell my brother as well he's got something of an appetite for raising it and I know that if he doesn't show I'll have to entertain on my own (Chorus) I'm dead I know that you said It's better to bend with ones who don't tend to shoot their mouth all over the house their words can kill I'm so small (Chorus) (Chorus)
9.
Dry Rivers 02:35
Dry Rivers You don't remember me Like I remembered you You're like you woudn't be seen doing what you usually do (Chorus) If I were only so good as to take you away then we could watch the rivers run dry The autumn night is cold and it cracks through me How much longer must I stand Inside your endless dream (Chorus) Maybe I've reached out for you long enough, oh yeah Maybe I've thrown all of our trust away Maybe I've reached out for you long enough, oh yeah Maybe I've thrown all of our trust away You say we're bound by love but maybe soon someday I won't be around anymore to keep playing these games (Chorus)
10.
Older Soldiers I was never born to suffer against the grain of some crooked law There's been talk in town that's been believed I must ride with the wind tonight I staggered into town a stranger gazing through a veil of tears using wisdom only gathered by word of mouth gathered long over the years (Chorus) You can throw all the blame on me babe I'm a martyr in my belief but If you look out into my heart you'll fear I'm innocent Older soldiers never die at all They simply fade away When every dreams been dreamt they must awake to the blame. So everything comes to a standstill when the days are not my own With a stubborn scowl painted on my face I must ride with the wind tonight I don't know what tomorrow brings Life changes like the seasons But with you by my side with a trace of a smile I know the times are bound to look up. (Chorus)
11.
New Years Day 1980 She lived beneath a shadow in those years untouched by dreams Her tattooes told grim tales of a girl who once braved the scene She can't be my friend no more, this was the farthest she could fall But she lived her life like she was going to die before she'd even lived at all She grew up in boredom town with a stepfather he never knew He was always out doing his drug jobs, breaking in his old pair of shoes when she turned 16 in 1978 she'd heard the bandwagon call and she lived her life like she was going to die before she'd even lived at all She ran into vanity stuck-ups who let her run the show soon she was singing for cocktails and dancing for middle aged crows Her evenings were branded with fast lane ways, she came each time she was called And she lived her life like she was going to die before she even lived at all. She'd told me once she was frightened of perverts armed with knives cemetaries filled with old friends and nightclubs filled with life And fear brings down some people like a roof without any walls So she lived her life like she was going to die before she'd even lived at all On New Years Day 1980, there's a letter near her bed saying "I been watching myself dying every night without a prayer for me being said" And her last words on her paper in her half-hearted pencil scrawl "I've lived my life like I was going to die and I haven't even lived at all".
12.
Dust In The Wind I saw you standing outside of the gates and sorry that I could not let you in You started to cry and I started to laugh and the tears were a flying like dust in the wind As others gathered around the lady at the gate They gazed through the bars to see what made her cry They all turned their heads and I laughed as they wept and why did they cry I do wonder why the tears were flying like dust in the wind They act without shame as if life is just a game and everyone gets a chance to choose their own man and if no one complains they'll all play the same game and they'll all either win or they'll lose in the end Like ragged old clowns they wear a big frown they were destined to live and destined to die My dreams have been born and not thrown out the door and that is just why I laugh and they cry and that is just why I live and they die and the tears were a flying like dust in the wind.
13.
Heart Of Mine There ain't nothing in the world that I would rather do Than be the happiest man who will ever be with you To drift in the arms of a friend, lover or wife To go to heaven with a smile on my face and love in my life I'm hoping maybe that you'll see me through Since the day we met and inside I knew Lots of changes coming on this heart of mine There's lots of changes coming on this heart of mine. These kind words are all that I ask of you Just a tear and a smile when the big old day is through. Nowhere I'll go without you on my mind I've been looking around this whole world for the meaningful kind I'm going up to heaven with you in my heart No matter where you'll go the seas will always part Lots of changes coming on this heart of mine There's lots of changes coming on this heart of mine.
14.
Beggar, Beggar Beggar beggar life for me Is streets and death behind my dreams I shall not love my fear of God I shall not steal I shall not eat Beggar beggar helpless few Distant hope destroyed by truth. My fellow man prays to a God I thought I knew (Chorus) Shoulder shoulder leave my head Leave me feeling starlight cold I have no gold to save my soul No desire for the news Stranger stranger keep my bed Do not write laws to steal my bags Do what you do Ignore the truth: I am your friend behind these rags. Doctor doctor heal the rich keep them from the fate of me Let us roll into the ditch Let us feel this earth's disease. (Chorus)
15.
Lost River Blues Looking for a living and looking to be giving that's all that I want With a six string shootout Knock 'em all dead that's all that really counts. I'm singing and swinging and looking out at this mess I'm in They're paying and cheering and I'm leaving and fearing I won't make it home again. (chorus) I'm looking across lost river since I got these worn out blues These simple shoes they may seem new to you I've been looking across lost river since I got these beat up blues These simple shoes may seem new to you but to me they're old news. Give me a dollar and I'll give you a holler when the dollar runs out My tales will be taller with the rope around my collar you'll know nothing about somehow you'll be tempted to be suddenly befriended by my open hand and I'll be gone as soon as I see you with a dollar again. (chorus) I been a gypsy looking like a son of a gun with a story to tell I've been a sculpture soul with them chipping away with every ticket I sell. I've been trying to catch a tail that was in my hands when I was on the skids. Now I'm looking back hearing echoes wondering what I did. (chorus) Looking for a living and looking to be giving that's all that I want With a six string shootout Knock 'em all dead that's all that really counts.
