1.
The Blues Got A Hold Of Me (Chorus) Well the blues got a hold of me and couldn't let me go the blues got a hold of me and couldn't let me go I know I might be wrong but we're gonna be in trouble now for sure We've been sheltered too long and spent many days out of control Sometimes when we sleep we dream that we're awake what I see is innocence surrounded by the pain. (Chorus) Feeling like a clown when a smile is painted on his frown When I show my face the people seem to know that I've been around Sometimes when I cry my eyes are really dry will it ever cross their mind will it ever cross my mind (Chorus) (Bridge) Been looking for a laugh here Been looking for a time Know we're gonna find it I've got my very last wages in my pocket Keeping my two cents worth only hoping for a profit Sometimes I could have sworn that my spirit always bore a striking resemblance to my anguish (Chorus)
2.
Gone Is The Girl No one's taking me out tonight It's been a long time since I been lonesome I ain't upset though I'd say I'm down because gone is the girl who kept me up yeah all night yeah all day yeah with her take me or leave me attitude yeah oh gone is the girl I'm trying to be her stranger now But she keeps yelling at me all the time If it ain't to my face she yells anyhow about me and myself and I I I yeah all night yeah all day yeah with her listen to me attitude yeah oh gone is the girl gone is the girl No one's taking me out tonight I'll take a walk out there in the park by my lonesome because her and her new man are out of town and I can show my face around all night yeah all day yeah with my take me or keep me attitude gone is the girl gone is the girl gone is the girl gone is the girl
3.
Be My Friend 02:59
Be My Friend They said you didn't want me here but that doesn't matter to me I've been standing in an empty room talking bored about how it used to be (Chorus) I just want to make amends I just want you to be my friend to be my friend to be my friend to be my friend again It started when you got laid off work and I was between jobs too and luck couldn't find us behind this curtain wasn't much else that we could do (Chorus) (Bridge) And if I start to bring you down Just tell me baby I'll help you on When I start to see you smile Just know that I did right this time around They said you didn't want me here but that doesn't matter to me I've been standing in an empty room talking bored about how it used to be (Chorus)
4.
One More Time Our memories are fond Our dreams turned out just fine You've changed a lot since then but I don't really mind Eulogies of hatred Encircled by vicious pride Split us apart but once we were one of a kind (Chorus) Do you wish for just one more night Do you wish for just one last time Do you wish we could both be right Do you wish for just one last time Separated by rumors told in great detail cast us down into an abyss of sorrow when will we wake up and see each other again? I'll still be watching out for you tomorrow. (Chorus)
5.
Just A Boy 03:18
Just A Boy In the far past reaches of memory Evening fell over the field Sunlight streamed past the pastures everything was still but I couldn't understand this beauty for I was just a boy I was just a boy I watched some old rowdies pull in they began looking for a fight with the young boy at the counter desperados pulled a knife I couldn't understand this mutiny because I was just a boy I was just a boy (Bridge) No one came staggering out the door yelling out their tales of endless fear someone must have died inside that store as I stood there with my instincts standing near One guy looked around for cover while the other man grabbed the cash I fought my fear with tears fear I knew would last I was afraid to tell my story but I was just a boy I was just a boy I found it hard to escape the terror there was so much on my mind I grew up with my knowing I should tell someone of that night But I couldn't get you to believe me Yes the boy will never die I guess the boy will never die oh and I was just a boy oh I was just a boy
6.
Dry Rivers 02:41
Dry Rivers You don't remember me Like I remembered you You're like you woudn't be seen doing what you usually do (Chorus) If I were only so good as to take you away then we could watch the rivers run dry The autumn night is cold and it cracks through me How much longer must I stand Inside your endless dream (Chorus) Maybe I've reached out for you long enough, oh yeah Maybe I've thrown all of our trust away Maybe I've reached out for you long enough, oh yeah Maybe I've thrown all of our trust away You say we're bound by love but maybe soon someday I won't be around anymore to keep playing these games (Chorus)
7.
Hoodoo Man 02:54
Hoodoo Man (Chorus) Hoodoo Man Take it out on me, sometime x2 In the dark confusion on this crazy night my eyes on strangers their eyes on mine they can't taste my passion they can't see my life they can't see my reaction to the things inside my mind. (Chorus) Got a good feeling This just ain't my place These people ain't my kind they ain't at my pace Running along this hoodoo road tripping on gravelstones and this road leads to nowhere not even to my home (Chorus)
8.
Older Soldiers Well I wasn't born to suffer against the grain of some crooked law there's been talk in town that's been believed I must ride with the wind tonight I staggered in town a stranger Gazing through a veil of tears using only wisdom gathered by word of mouth gathered long over the years (Chorus) You can throw all the blame on me baby I'm a martyr in my belief and if you look up into my heart you'll fear I'm innocent Older soldiers never die at all they simply fade away when every dream has been dreamed they must awake to the blame. So everything comes to a standstill when the days are not my own with a stubborn scowl on my face I must ride with the wind tonight I don't know what tomorrow brings life changes like the seasons but with you by my side with a trace of a smile I know things are bound to look up (Chorus)
9.
Twenty Shades Of Gorgeous I know I've seen hard times living a new life underground I know I've seen bad times being pushed and roughed around Twenty shades of gorgeous says I can get you grooving down Well the woman of my dreams came and she took my heart away from me and she said she would see me again but I'll never be free again now man Twenty shades of gorgeous says I can get you grooving down and if you win my baby you better start running from me now. I took my woman out to my floor before I drank my mood away Well she ain't all that hard to ignore all bets were off that day she said I was her only man and that silly old bet would have to wait.
10.
Passions 03:20
Passions You've been haunting me with chains of flashing imagery Passions burn and passions die It's strange that all we're given we must hide x2 I don't play the fool so I'll tell you what I'll do I'll make you a deal so it won't be all over I've read the looks on your face Will I have to go wherever you go? And what will I do after? And the key is lost or stolen I wish I could see your soul When all your words are broken and when the shame hits home but I don't play the fool so I'll tell you what I'll do I'll draw the shades to make the room seem darker I'll search to find your face wait until the moon sets low And see I'll do after You've been haunting me with chains of flashing imagery Passions burn and passions die It's strange that all we're given we must hide x2

about

I thought my last Jasmine Dreams was my last! I found some other songs that were written in 1993 that I deem releasable. Decent songs that I can stand behind. I did not use my Jasmine 12 string on this album (as it is in permanent storage) but my Emerald 12 string made an appearance on some songs. Also the Vantage 635V I owned for Jasmine Dreams, 7 is sold, but I used my ES-335 on this album (a more than decent upgrade). These songs are truly the last salvageable songs I could find from my early songwriting years (1990-1993). I hope you enjoy this collection! It was fun to record and revisit the songs.
