This song was written at the Alberta /B.C border in a little motel ghost town in 2012 while on tour. At the time most relationships I was entering I was asking these questions and lamenting that even then, it felt like it was the "end of times" in some way or another and that substance beyond a "lover for only a day" was being welcomed into my uncertain future at the time.
