I'm Hoping I Can Make It On My Own

Memories don't mean as much as they once did
I can't see them in the making anymore
I'm trying to be set free from a life that isn't me
and I know I won't be lonesome when I go
Because when my heart is lonely
and there's too much love around me
I can't complain because I should feel at home
It's when I feel it don't matter if my cards were dealt and scattered
I'd still feel the pain that a good hand knows
i'm hoping I can make it on my own.

Every brand new day all I pray for is escape
I must admit I'm very insecure
you ask me what is wrong and why don't I sing along
I can answer when I'm longing for the door
because my life is intact and the people slap my back
you can't understand why I'm begging you to leave
can you take me, by the way, to a world so far away?
where nothing is the same but you and me?
that's lots to ask so leave it up to me.

I can't be involved with a life I'm trying to rob
with situations much to real to stand
I'm playing guessing games
I must answer to my own name
who am I and what's the master plan?
I don't want to leave my world and never be let back
I only want to change around the tune
If you leave me I do doubt that I can go without
my dancing partner to my personal blues
that's lots to ask I'll leave it up to you.
