The Disappearing Floor

lyrics

The Disappearing Floor

Tonight the drifters drift and dance
between the bones of circumstance
their trance-like stance of vague romance
brings sweet memories to these days
we run through day and night like this
we jump and fall we hit and miss
while the ravaged bandits waltz and kiss
to the sounds of yesteryear

through the night police took flight
chasing mortal men of might
who fled from crime scenes brave and white
like ghosts who owned the world
the smell of burning filled the air
buildings wrapped in red hot glare
the lonely warehouse lost its wares
and the big old shack burned down

(Chorus)
Might as well kiss the sky when the day is sunny
might as well get out and live a little more
these days are all we've got
no matter if we're found or if we're lost
on the disappearing floor.

The heroes of the past are gone
we make new memories sing new songs
of dew-lit mornings where innocence is lost
to all but children now
and I wish to see one day
when unborn poison kills our fates
and the ship of time is delayed from haste
to see us to tomorrow

(Chorus)
