The Land Of The Free

I’m psychosomatically dying
My patients rotting to the core
My lungs are heavy and rocky
I can’t sleep flat anymore
If you want to be clairvoyant
these days you just have to predict the worst
It’s now or never more than ever
and if you’re not doomed you’re cursed
When misfortune costs a fortune
in the land of the free
This country rich in homelessness
feels like no friend to me.

I’m stranded cold and lonesome
even with somebody around.
Can figure out where this is all taking me
Is this just trouble bound?
When the curse is cracked wide open
Will there be a million shining suns?
If no one has guns
No one needs guns.
Wake me up when this is over.
They’re all playing it wrong and strong.
There’s some stupidity in the room now
and we should have known it all along.

Why don’t you just go back where you came from?
I think I might just do that.
Where I can freeze my ass in peace.
Hell I might even buy a cat.
Put some killer band together
where everybody plays to survive.
We can take turns playing all the instruments
and be happy to be alive.
Even if only a few come to hear us
because the fame scene is all rigged.
There’ll be magic under the radar
everywhere we’ve gigged.
Yeah, yeah.
