The Ballad Of Louis L'Amour He felt the nights of North Dakota. Wild old west was cold as ice. A writer born in the Jamestown backwoods telling tales near the town of Price. (chorus) L'Amour was his name came from honor rose to fame he wrote of the days the west begun waxing mystic on the gunfights fought, lost and won. Lewis and Clark they broke the frontiers in days horizons knew no end. L'Amour was not the first to write of them but he'd take us to the west again. (chorus) He read the books of Alfred Dickey Penned his first at Franklin School. He was a boxer, seaman, and a skinner, Chronicled studies of man and land, and wise and fool. (chorus) The Burning Hills, The Sackett Brand, Ride The Dark Trail, with The Mustang Man. Mojave Crossing, Last Of The Breed, Hondo, Shalako. Poetry. (chorus)

Guitar Of My Dreams My guitar’s a star. I plan to take her far. She’s beaten and she’s ragged and she’s old. She’s got mojo, she’s got fun. She makes the rain hide from the sun. And the feeling in my heart is far from cold. When I pick her off the stand and I hold her in my hand and play the songs a million hearts can play. When I die I know she’ll be somehow outliving me The Guitar of my dreams is here to stay. I’ll start living for today. For all the things that seem a world away are really a world away. I picked her up from way down south in a pretty quaker house where the gent there told me stories from the years and he mentioned he would miss picking Willie strumming Elvis and passing her around the nights she sang. So I promised him I’d write keep in touch, share my delight. Take care of her until I’m old and grey. When I die I know she’ll be somehow outliving me The Guitar of my dreams is here to stay. I’ll start living for today. For all the things that seem a world away are really a world away. My guitar’s a star. I plan to take her far. She’s beaten and she’s ragged and she’s old.

Lonesome Thrills He gets lonesome lonesome thrills sharing nothing against his will he's just a travelling and having his fill. Call him a stranger call him young call him a story you've left unsung blood and lace he'll always face life alone (chorus) Lone lonesome thrills flames on liquor to chase his pills and the good, and the bad, and the ugly. He'll satisfy no sweet caress living the story that he tells the best of the good, and the bad, and the ugly. It took him years to face his pain for he had no one hanging around to blame so now he'll save a little face he calls his own he was looking for someone to care now you see him hanging onto the air he's walking haggard hanging lonesome living by the sword. (chorus)
4.
Dying's A Long Time Away It's a long road to Harlan it's a long road to wait for that shady grove to take you home again so rest here, my darling the angels are coming time to slip into something you'll wear at posterity's door oh, and what's more how is your faith? how is your feeling inside about to be carried away oh, and what's more you've got to be brave you've done all your fighting and dying's a long time away. You came of age hoping but you leave life the same the world gets no better when the best hearts beat in the lame generations shun wisdom generations shun dreams you had it all in your eye and you fought all the most ancient schemes oh, and what's more how is your faith? when the darkness would question every pure intention you'd say oh, and what's more with this world unsaved you've done all your fighting and dying's a long time away. So bless you, my darling where the country doves fall where the rivers are ruined and the thirsty are learning to crawl as you go leaving there's nothing to say you've done all your fighting and dying's a long way. oh, and what's more how is your faith? how is your feeling inside about to be carried away oh, and what's more you've got to be brave you've done all your fighting and dying's a long time away.

Mama, What Have They Done To The Rain? (chorus) Mama, what have they done to the rain? to make it seem cloudy on a sunny day? make highways and buildings to make our pay so we can have our way? so we can have our way? Grandchildren fighting to breathe people we know people we need future is now so they always say gotta keep rhythm with the fortune and fame. (chorus) Daddy, tell me, where the horzon lies? does it matter when the future dies? Pianos play rain everyday guitars cast shadows between the dark caves. (chorus) The debt I steal for the light I smoke for the dream keeps me sane The debt I steal for the light I smoke for what have they done to the rain? (chorus) Mama, what have they done to the rain? to make it seem cloudy on a sunny day? make highways and buildings to make our pay so we can have our way? so we can have our way?
6.
The Things I Can't Repay (chorus) It's up to Jesus and the wild wild wind to find the things that I can't repay x2 it's down to crystal clean water and the forests of rain for another day another day another day of play. I hope this lasts me forever I hope the devil don't take it away I found my faith in just believing in all of the things that I can't repay If you can live it up you can live it down well, that's what the wise men say so here's to all the worlds we found in all the things that we can't repay. (chorus) There's no two ways around it the world that we made is breaking crumbling like an old heart or a tower that took too much shaking If you can live it up you can live it down well, that's what the wise men say so here's to all the worlds we found in all the things that we can't repay. (chorus)
7.
Face In The Moonlight The memory I'm living on is her face in the moonlight. Her skating neath the stars laughter in the blue night. Wandering through the dark her face in the moonlight. the memory I'm living on living on living on 'til I see her again. Someday we'll all pass on Faces in the moonlight. Free beneath the stars. Laughter in the blue night. Wandering through the dark. Faces in the moonlight. someday we'll all pass on. pass on. pass on. 'til we see again. Today we're braving on Facing the moonlight. Stranded 'neath the stars. Hiding in the blue night. Wandering through dark Facing the moonlight. today we're braving on braving on braving on 'til we shine again.

I Still Have You When I've got nothing but the blues I still have you I still have you When the world is spinning tales you just can't choose I still have you I still have you When the darkness rears and truth is lost when men can't find love no matter what the cost sometimes I wonder what to do I still have you I still have you Some they say sorrow is to blame naturally naturally whatever's been done to them will be done to me naturally naturally you've got to wait to get robbed out in the sun they'll take what they can carry and you can mourn and watch them run but there's one thing they won't take from this someone I've still have you I've still have you Everyone has their own kind of blues doesn't really matter how much you can lose oh baby, you get dogged around I've been dumped and fired temporarily hired to star in my own soap opera choir oh baby - you get dogged around. Someday when everything builds back again I'll have my dream I'll have my dream looking at you flying while you're flying eye to eye with me I'll live my dream and when the rain comes we'll go above the clouds look for sunshine in all the times when all these hard times come around but I'll never fly without sacred ground I still have you I still have you.
9.
Father Of Time That father of time he's a wicked boy he can take your family and joy and send it down that memory lane and he won't come back when you call his name but father of time has got to deal with what he's trying to steal from mother of nature's blessed field the battle out there's begun. (chorus) We can't walk away We can't talk away We can't lock away these golden hearts and iron chains. There's no time today to find out what we pay for forgetting the world ain't meant to turn that way. Without dreams there ain't no dreamers without schemes there ain't no schemers to come around to take the lull away. There's nothing better here to do than see who's out there left to fool into proving we're the dawning of the day. In the twilight hour of might when the dreamers dance before the light and see reflections of the graves in the faces science fought to save. They can laugh aloud at the farmers woes and the shepherds with their prayers of old and miners back to shovel the coal to run that morning train. (chorus) That father of time he's a wicked boy he can take your family and joy and send it down that memory lane and he won't come back when you call his name. (chorus)

The Lost Songs Of Our Hearts I sure hope you're gonna love me if the thick starts getting thin if it gets too cold to walk away will you still let me in? Not wrong for very long I had a dream that I met you before the heavens had a name you were holding out for someone that somehow we became Not wrong for very long (Chorus) Take me in your arms and we'll talk about the lost songs of our hearts Where we belong when the wind that sends the chill tears love apart it tears love apart Should I be happy or afraid there may be a day when things won't be so good and we'll go on our lonesome ways? Not wrong for very long I only wish the best things for you if we don't see eye to eye you can count on me to look back if we ever say goodbye Not wrong for very long (Chorus) Mercy for the broken mercy for the blind who don't know what hit them until they've been left behind Not wrong for very long
