Jasmine Dreams, Volume #3 (2020)

1.
Diamonds In The Rough Hoping against hope dying a lonely death if there were only some way out of here instead and I think I've had enough of the man outside our door protesting against everything we rooted for. Lady luck don't come banging on your door anymore you were forced to put her sincerity in question Like a diamond in the rough you had to face the light alone and reflect it towards the shadows you never saw. Let's get back together soon, my friend we can do so much together again when you've got less than nothing you can't win we lost track of time and we wonder if our days are numbered yet. As our days wore on we were seeking confusion and good memories because scarce time just passed us by like two diamonds in the rough we had to face the light alone and reflect it towards shadows we never saw.
2.
Stand Tall 03:31
Stand Tall Those crazy people on the edge of their seats have got places to go and people to meet oh yeah and everyone else wants a place to hide because they're afraid to know who's by their side (Chorus) Stand tall show me who you are the shadow covers your face but your eyes they shine stand tall for no beauty can match the starlight in your eyes People whose lives come to a permanent stop because their troubles are many and their pleasures are none have spent many dark days starting up brawls but now waste their time behind bars (Chorus) Why do you say you have no time? You waste your time just falling behind I hope to see you again someday and I can look you in your eyes without seeing your pain. (Chorusx2)
3.
Lost In Time 04:25
Lost In Time When everything's held within you get lost in time life don't have much meaning there's photographs on the floor when you're beyond the call of duty and you're trapped within yourself your eyes conceal the pain for they're closed up nice and tight (Chorus) come along come along for a good time I'm trying to show you the way maybe you don't know what you're missing come along come along for a good time I'm trying to show you the way maybe you really don't know what you're missing Injustice truly forced you to wish you had never been blamed Cause now there's no one left to run to and no one wants to be alone so you sit at home and listen to the ringing in your ears but the ringing always reminds you of people yelling what's your fear (Chorus) There's evidence all about you that you don't feel so at home your hands are always trembling does guilt lie deep in your soul? I can't promise much but you're lost in time so why not let me guide you to a life that you don't know (Chours)
4.
Merciless Empathy I go home every night feeling cornered by my pride It's so hard to try to release myself from the things inside my mind (Chorus) Something tells me that I'm an underdog out of your dream Something tells me that I'm an underdog out of your dream I laugh at the things that you tell me they aren't funny Something yearns something burns but the time I had is all I needed to learn (Chorus) From my will I'd do things on my own time not under anybody's wing It hurts not to fear but when fear will die then what will I fear here? (Chorus)
5.
The Freedom Song The almighty sorcerer doesn't want to fight instead he'll curse you like he's running out of time The almighty sorcerer doesn't want to grin but deep inside his troubled mind he wishes he could laugh like you did (Chorus) But a promise is a promise freedom reigns instead of Thomas tied up in his chains he learned how to fight in the meantime A conversation in his mind saying things never meant to be said no matter how much love he finds he doesn't have what it takes to give The almighty sorcerer doesn't want to grin but deep inside his troubled mind he wishes he could laugh like you did. (Chorusx2)
6.
Yellow Moon 02:04
Yellow Moon His memory stall had built a wall between the present and the past When seeing was believing he had to cover his tracks The yellow moon had risen and sitting behind closed doors Was a lonely boy who had no keys but wanted to walk the shores. For once his time had given mind to living a life of peace When he sat down and dreamed of things that would bring him to his knees And scream out shouts of bribery but none would heed his pleads so he whisked away those needless thoughts for he knew not where life leads. When the times got rough he had had enough of pretending he had faith for he had been caressed by fear and beaten by his fate and as he watched her slip away and slowly quickly die he fell down on his weary knees and then he began to cry (And truth be known that in his dreams it was the maiden who held the sword.)
7.
The Song 02:34
The Song Confusion shattered dream away Forests of hatred time will stop before the void opens up and the sun will fall away Forget the wars forget the night forget the stars that seem so bright forget peaceful men whom hold no hate still looking for a place to stay (Chorus) Sights are being chosen Opinions being spoken take all your pointless tokens and throw them all away Sights are being chosen Opinions being spoken take all your pointless tokens and throw them all away Someone must have told you off Sharing your cares and shedding your tears Cast dispersion on the facts and wait until the day. (Chorus)
8.
Got It Made 02:58
Got It Made You can't stop now for you're all alone walking somewhere many miles from a home you're crying about something that you know ain't fair and you've got to keep going because you're halfway there (chorus) You don't know you've got it easy why be frightened of your shame? you don't know you've got it easy oh hey girl you've got it made You fell so hard for a man in love but he told you himself it wasn't you he loved he asked you "young lady why waste your time if you look hard enough you'll see your love for me is blind?" oh boy. (Chorus)
9.
Wondering 03:42
Wondering I am wondering what have I been missing? I hear distant thunder clashing with my fear that if I yell from a mountain no one will be listening and the echoes trail onward year after year I am wondering what the future could be bringing I hope the thunder wakes me from the fates seen in my mind when the strange looking visions begin to be fading I'll try to grasp any thoughts that are left behind (Chorus) when I pray for a guide I am wondering when I wait for a sign I am wondering I am wondering where am I now standing I can't see anything that's near but I can see real far It must be quite a ball to be on the side that's winning but no matter the matter you must learn how to keep your guard (Chorus) I was wondering what have I been missing? I hear distant thunder clashing with my fear that if I yell from a mountain no one will be listening and the echoes trail onward year after year
10.
Little Home 02:46
Little Home She got herself a little home far away on the west coast lived there for a couple years and all her hope seemed to disappear when she was lost she was shown the way by a man who played guessing games oh yeah ended up being swept away Got herself a strong man who has an ego that was 6"10 Hung around with her for a while til he was up for a murder trial and to this day she still debates his kinder side that was hard to trace oh yeah - old Jerome took a toll on her soul She found it was pretty tough holding out when she was low on luck she cried a time or two when the night was long and hard to get by those days had taken a toll on groggy demons that still hung low oh yeah they were her guardian angels before oh yeah they were her guardian angels before oh yeah they were her guardian angels long ago
11.
Back In The Blue Someone's gonna fight and someone's gonna leave some will spend time thinking they've been cheated and deceived The restless ones will cry they're all black eyed and burnt and there ain't nobody lying I hear the anger in their words ((Chorus) I can be back in the blue Or I can take it by storm but I'd probably wind up stranded in someone else's war To them all this loving is just a shadow of a shade outspoken by the leaders of the cynical parade those destined and undestined forbidden and refused are just a snake in the grass in this world full of blues am I the only one living in some neighbourhood am I the only one conquered in disguise sneaking around here with nothing to do too afraid to stand up for what isn't right.

about

This is the third album in a series of the songs written on my "Jasmine" 12 string acoustic guitar between 1990-1992 (the first two years I wrote songs). I still own the guitar all these years later and it is featured prominently on these recordings. Most of the songs on this particular collection were written toward the end of 1991 and early 1992 when I was 15 years old. This album is dedicated to my mother, Agnes Frechette.
