Piled the car full of my spending loot
and all my gear and unspoiled fruit
heading on down to Monterey

Every summer here the air gets dry
when the sun gets cooking til it dries out your eyes
Even though we all live in a Paradise
so we don't want that to happen again anytime

So I'm in the middle of shaving
don't know why I bother
probably because it just gets so dang hot here
my half faced beard will just have to do
chances to shave are far between and few

In the winter it's worse, believe it or not!
The infrastructure here since the fire is shot
You think you'll have power but good chance you'll get caught
with a tree across your driveway and no water in the pot

So it's nice to feel like you're in another time
like it's some other country back in 1849!
Well I'm glad they invented all the things they did
I kind of like my lifestyle on the grid

In the meantime going solar costs a fortune to install
and to get off the grid is a bureaucratic wall
I'd love to spend years on this hideaway
It's probably all burn down anyway

When they send me $100 to make up for the thousands I may have lost
I can't even calculate the cost
of clients and gigs I'm set to lose
because it's a ripple effect kind of thing here in Santa Cruz!

Well, really the issue isn't PG&E, it's just you and me
living in a world that's so deranged it won't do anything fast about climate change
But we've got PG&E
Politically Guaranteed Electricity!

Well, if your power goes out and you're blessed with a generator, and a chainsaw full of gas and a truck and an excavator
And if you don't mind lighting matches by the moon
you'll be doing pretty good in Bonny Doon
with PG&E
